For business
Can you automate B2B sales messaging on iMessage?
Technically yes, through a third-party provider. Legally, TCPA governs messages to mobile numbers in the US and does not carve out business-to-business, so cold outbound to mobiles carries real exposure. The channel works best for warm outbound — people who filled in a form, requested a demo, or gave you a card.
B2B is not an exemption
A mobile number is a mobile number, statutory damages are per message, and "they were on a company website" is not consent. Get advice specific to your situation before running cold outbound to mobiles. The legal overview and the compliance page.
Where it genuinely wins
Speed to lead. Someone requests a demo at 2:14pm and a message arrives at 2:16pm from a named person. Response rates to that are not comparable to email, and it requires no volume at all — which is exactly why it survives the constraints above.
Sequence design
| Message | Timing | Job |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Within minutes of the trigger | One specific question. Not a pitch. |
| 2 | Day 3, only if no reply | New information — a relevant result, a specific answer |
| 3 | Day 8, only if no reply | A clean close. "Should I stop?" Then stop. |
Three, not eleven. Every extra touch buys a smaller increment of reply and a larger increment of block — and a block here is worse than an email unsubscribe, because it removes you permanently and counts against your line.
The volume ceiling
Realistic limits are 30–50 new conversations a day per line after a proper warm-up. One provider publicly caps cold outreach around 50 new contacts a day for exactly this reason. If your model needs more, buy more lines — and question whether a channel that punishes volume is the right place for a volume strategy. Pacing and warm-up.
