Privacy policy

The short version

We run product analytics on this site, we tag the links that go out to providers, and we keep what you send through the contact form. We do not sell personal data and we do not run advertising networks here.

Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how the site is used — which pages get read, which links get clicked, where visitors arrive from. It records page views, interactions with elements on the page, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and the referring URL including any campaign parameters.

Analytics profiles are created for all visitors, including ones who never identify themselves. That means activity from a given browser is grouped into a single anonymous profile so we can see how someone moves through the site across a visit. We do not attach a name or email address to that profile unless you give us one.

You can opt out with your browser’s Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control setting, a content blocker, or by not using the site. Most tracker-blocking extensions block PostHog by default.

Outbound link tracking

Links from this site to providers carry UTM parameters identifying this site as the referrer. When you follow one, the provider can see that you arrived from here and which page you came from. It does not transmit any personal information about you — the parameters describe the page, not the person. The provider’s own privacy policy governs what happens once you are on their site.

If a relationship pays a referral fee, we may earn from those links. This is described on the about page.

Contact form

When you use the contact form we receive your name, email address, the business detail you choose to include, the topic, and your message. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else. We do not add you to a mailing list.

Please do not send confidential information, customer lists, or API credentials through the form.

Cookies and local storage

Analytics sets identifiers in your browser so repeat visits within a session are recognized as the same visitor. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained according to our PostHog project settings. Contact form messages are kept as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to request a copy of the data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email hello@imessageapis.com and we will action it.

Children

This site is aimed at business operators and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of it.
